What do varicose veins really mean?
Leg veins carry blood back to the heart against gravity, using tiny one-way valves. When these valves weaken, blood flows backward and pools. The vein stretches, twists, and bulges under the skin. That is a varicose vein.
They are very common in people who stand or sit for long hours, in women, during pregnancy, and with a family history. Over time, they can cause skin darkening, eczema, and slow-healing ulcers, a condition called chronic venous insufficiency.

No. They tend to stay or slowly worsen. Self-care measures can relieve symptoms, but they do not remove the veins.
They help relieve heaviness and swelling for many people while they are worn. They are not a cure, and need correct fitting. Your doctor will check that they are safe for you.
